How To Handle Setbacks
Lapses and setbacks—we’ve all had them when we are attempting to lose weight permanently. They can be defeating. If you find yourself looking up from a plate of pasta, or bowl of ice cream and feeling guilty, stop right there.
It is the guilt that will turn your diet into a failed attempt. We’re all human. Sometimes we do things we know we shouldn’t. Punishing yourself for it will not make the problem go away, or erase what happened.
Set the bowl down, and shake yourself off. Realize you made a mistake and accept it, but don’t let it become a chain of events that gets out of control.
If you miss a workout just accept that it happens sometimes and take it back up again at the next opportunity. Be careful of overdoing it by trying to over-compensate for a missed session. The missed one is just missed and that’s it.
