When we try to lose weight permanently we often try to buy food that is marketed as “diet friendly”. That’s totally understandable, after all, we want to lose weight, and buying food that is advertised as being helpful for losing weight makes a lot of sense. Let’s look a little bit deeper into that.

Contrary to popular belief, diet foods are not actually the way to go. First of all, they often contain artificial sweeteners, which are chemicals. Any kind of chemical should not be in our foods. Diet sodas have actually been shown as being a related to weight gain.

Also, diet foods don’t hold any real nutritional value. Many diet foods are very high in salt, which can cause water gain and contribute to high blood pressure. They hold little nutritional value, and thus can make you feel hungry sooner.

Remember, the goal is not to see how much you can eat and still stay in a certain calorie range. The goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle and maintain a permanent weight loss. The body can not be tricked, you need to fill it full of good foods, full of nutrients in order to achieve your goal.

This means, stay away from the diet foods and instead fill your cupboards, and your body with healthy foods.
