“No Matter How Well I Eat I Do Not Lose Weight”- Are You a Woman Over 40? Could That Be You?
Are you a woman over 40? Do you sometimes feel as if it is impossible to lose weight permanently? Many women over 40 tend to have a hard time losing weight. Spend a minute to read these 3 important thoughts on what to do to lose weight successfully and permanently.
First of all, you need to monitor your calorie intake. Even if you think you are eating healthy all the time, the little “cheatings” add up. A food diary or an online food journal will help you greatly in assessing how many calories you eat per day.
It is important to realize that too ambitious weight loss goals will not help you. If you are starving yourself, you will automatically increase cravings. A good weight loss goal is 1 pound per week, what usually means eating 500 calories less. You can get these 500 calories by substituting all starchy foods (rice, bread, noodles, potatoes, etc.) with no-carb vegetables, like broccoli, kale or cauliflower. These contain a lot of minerals and antioxidants too- so you will actually improve your diet. Add some exercise, and it should be easy to consume 500 calories less per day.
Second, your metabolism changes. Women over 40 burn fewer calories than women in their twenties- it’s a fact, and we have to live with it. What you can do: Regular exercise helps a lot to step up your metabolism. Regular means: 6 days per week, for 30 minutes at least. This will take 3 hours per week, what might seem like a lot of time to spend. But: You will feel more energized and emotionally balanced, so the positive effects outweigh the time spent greatly.
Third, you need to look at your stress level. You can’t lose weight permanently when you are stressed out all the time. The busy lifestyle of women over 40 contributes a lot to bulging waistlines. If necessary, you need to slow down a bit and take care of yourself. It might be useful to ensure, that you and your well-being are a priority for yourself.
Whatever you do, make sure it fits to your lifestyle and your personality. Otherwise you won’t be able to stick with it. Consider a specialized weight loss program for women over 40 that adjusts to your specific situation helping you to lose weight permanently.
